Advantages of a boat share
Having been into boating for years, predominantly sports boats, ski boats plus sailing dingy's Hobie cats etc.
I'd always fancied the idea of a 'proper' boat but the initital expense and the on-going running costs are just too prohibitive for most of us to contemplate - my wife & I included.
Buying into a quality boat with a like-minded group of owners has been a perfect combination for us - everyone takes huge pride in keeping the boat looking superb and functioning as it was intended. Every minute on board creates a great sense of pride and pleasure to own such a great boat. It is very comfortable and easy to handle once you get to know how everything works.
Over the time we've carried out various upgrades that have enhanced an already excellent boat, such recently we've installed high efficiency AC chillers, replaced all exterior seating, new LED lighting, new fridges to flybridge, new deck & helm covers etc. The teak flooring is re-coated every season and the hull & superstructure is polised every winter. The hull and prop gear is cleaned & anti-fouled each year. Engines are fully maintained and serviced by Volvo each winter. The engine running hours are currently only 1200 per engine.
Everything about this works very well. When we leave after our weeks use on board we fill all the fuel tanks (including the Rib) to the brim - ensuring we all pay for fuel we use and the next owner arrives to full tanks. The cleaners we employ always do a superb job so its in pristine condition for every changeover when we arrive. All bedding & towels are laundered each week (we have spare sets) so its all new and fresh when you arrive. We also have additional beach towels that we launder ourselves at the end of each week to save bring them out (There is a Launderette in the marina).
Alcudia itself has an abundance of good restaurants, bars and shops for provisions. It is a great location for visiting other parts of the island and there are many really good local Cala's where you can drop anchor and just enjoy the crystal clear waters. Or you can moor up in one of the many marinas around the island for overnight stays.
